Neatishead Baptist 200
In 2011 Neatishead Baptist Church will be celebrate its 200th Anniversary. We are planning a year of special events and reports, the key events being a visit by the Bishop of Norwich in May, a weekend of outreach in June and the official 200th the Harvest Anniversary Services in October 2011, at which the speaker will be the President of the Baptist Union, Rev'd Dr Pat Took.
Did you attend the church, Sunday School or Youth Groups, carve your name on the brickwork, get married here or are your relatives buried in either of the graveyards? We need your information, memories, photographs and memorabilia, please! Contact Pastor Sue in the first instance
And a big Thank You to those who have already been in touch, supplying copies of marriage certificates, photographs or information about ancestors who had links with the church.
It's especially been good to have e-mail contact with a descendent of two of the founders of the church, William and Martha Cubitt; to meet a descendent of one of the early ministers of the church, Rev. Samuel Nash (1867-69); and to meet descendants of one of the Sunday School pupils from the late 1800s. All these descendents are resident in the United States of America, where many of our early members seem to have moved to.
All these contacts help us realise how the past is actively linked to the present. And the one constant is of course the faithfulness of God.
