Locality
Neatishead Village is located in the heart of beautiful rural Broadland, yet not far from a main road. In the village are a shop (sadly the post office has closed), pub and a restaurant. Though much of the beauty of the Broads can be accessed only by water, there is much else in the locality that makes the area worth a visit:
- Access to the water can be found at Barton Turf, Irstead, Horning or Wroxham. And a walk along the Barton Boardwalk will reveal the wide expanse of Barton Broad. The nearest mooring to Neatishead Baptist Church is about a mile away at Neatishead Staithe.
- Or simply enjoy a walk along the many lanes and marked footpaths.
- Churches: Irstead has a thatched parish church. Other Anglican Churches in the benefice are Ashmanhaugh, Barton Turf, Horning and Neatishead. And don't overlook the tiny Barton Turf Methodist Chapel, in Pennygate.
- Places of specialist interest: A short distance away are Hoveton Hall Gardens and Wroxham Barns, with its shops and workrooms, coffee shop, junior farmyard and summer fairground. A little farther away is East Ruston Old Vicarage Gardens, which has featured on BBC Gardeners' World.
- Neatishead RAF Radar Museum is still open, though its future may be uncertain, as both RAF Neatishead and RAF Coltishall are now closed due to MOD re-organisation. Visit this slice of military history while you can.
- Shops: Nearby Wroxham has a full range of shops and facilities. And Accommodation of all types can be found in Neatishead, Wroxham and other nearby places.
